Beatrice: The Woogs of the Bathroom

Beatrice. Bea-Bea. Baby Bea-Bea. Booger. Booger-Wooger. Woogie-Bea. The Woogs.

Gorgeous Bea-Bea: Queen of all Woogs

As with many pet owners, I have specific situations when I pull out a nickname to attach to Beatrice. When she is behaving like a grown lady cat, it’s Beatrice or sometimes Bea. When she’s behaving like a little baby (which is most of the time), I call her Baby Bea-Bea, Bea-Bea, or Bea-Bea Gun. When she is being plain silly, I append the silliest nicknames to her.

This beautiful girl, all over bright pink, used to have bad boogers when she was an itty-bitty baby. And, ever the watchful Cat Mommy, I would dutifully dab at her nostrils with the edge of a moistened paper towel to reopen her nasal passages to facilitate, you know, breathing. It was during this time that she was known as “Booger Baby Bea-Bea.”

“Booger” led to “Booger-Wooger”…for when she was being particularly silly. Her delight at hearing that name only encouraged me to follow my tangent further…and so “Woogie” and “Woogs” were born…and cheerfully borne by her.

My Woogie sometimes finds herself trapped in sticky situations. She is a fairly quiet girl. Unlike her vocal feline sister (Callie the super “talkative”), Bea is content to chirrup and purr her feelings. Unfortunately…sometimes this sweet vocalization leads to trouble.

Like today for instance.

When she was stuck in the bathroom for an untold number of hours (at least one, probably as many as four). Having secretly slipped into the otherwise closed bathroom, following my heels entirely undetected, the Woogs was left all alone in the dark, enclosed bathroom…bereft of food and litter box. Robert would find her after he returned from work and heard her panicked mews from behind the closed door.

Sleeping: Peacefully Plotting Her Next Bathroom Occupation

This time, fortunately for us, she did not feel the need to evacuate her bladder or bowels all over our rugs.

Thanks, Woogs.

She’s one pretty cat! They can be so stealthy and quiet that it’s quite undersandable that you didn’t realize she was in the bathroom.

My dog couldn’t be that quiet if he tried. Well, that and my bathroom is really, really small. It’s hard to go unnoticed in there.

    • Mrs. H. says:

Thanks, Jacqueline! I think she’s absolutely gorgeous–both my kitty-girls are. 🙂 Beatrice has somehow managed to maintain her kitten appearance, though…she has a perfectly round little head and teensy little paws. She’s so delicate. Lol.

Haha, my dogs wouldn’t be able to go unnoticed in my bathroom, either. One is just too big and the other is so focused on following me that I’m confident she’d walk right on out as soon as I left. The cats, though? They prefer to explore…in the dark…apparently, lol.

Haha! I am not a cat person but I think I love her. We do the same thing with pets. Of course the crazy nicknames I pick out rarely have anything to do with the pet’s original name at all. For instance: I called our dog, Bart, Elliot. Longer? Harder to say? I have no clue why. Bea Bea Gun has got to be the cutest (and most logical) nickname I’ve ever heard!

    • Mrs. H. says:

Lmao, Elliot?? That’s adorable and hysterical! And I can’t in good conscience take credit for the Bea-Bea Gun nickname. One time when we were visiting my parents, my dad started calling her that because she ran around their house like a shot out of a gun. Lol. Very literal. But so funny! That’s one of my favorite names…except I tend to call her Woogs more than Bea-Bea Gun. Haha.

  • Oh, my goodness! She’s adorable! It’s so funny how our pets end up with nicknames. I my cats are named Pixie and Sophie. Pixie’s name cycle went from Little Pixie Eeba to Eebie to her current name The Eeb. Sophie morphed from Little Sophie Sue Sue to Seussie Puff to The Seuss. We also make up little songs about them. I’d better post this before I reveal anymore of my oddities!

    • Mrs. H. says:

Haha, thanks! I could just stare at her precious little face all day, hehe. I laughed out loud at your cats’ adorable names! I love The Eeb–that reminds me of The Woogs. Lol. So so so so cute! And Seuss??? Totally precious. Love them!

    Oh, poor baby Woogs! She’s a Bea-Yooty 🙂

My kitty nicknames often end up being variations of the word “puppy”. I don’t know why. Otherwise, Mrs.Parker is occasionally The Little Missus, Bear Cub, or Booboo, and Zelda gets Princess, Eskimo Bear, or Lulinha (little squid in Portuguese). My former cat, Gomer Pyle, became just Pyle when he was naughty, and Gomey when he was very silly. Now I call him Uncle Gomer or He Who Rests Forever in the Cigar Box when I talk about him to the girls 🙂

  • MC says:

Aldy can also be very stealthy. She moves closer every time you blink.
